Why do we need a Safety Action Plan?

• Crashes within Jefferson County account for approximately 18% of all crashes and 11% of all fatal crashes in Alabama (Jefferson County = 13% of Alabama's population).
• Crashes within the Heart of Alabama region account for approximately 25% of all crashes and 19% of all fatal crashes in Alabama (Heart of Alabama = 23% of Alabama's population).
• Alabama has a goal Toward Zero Deaths over a 25-year period.
